Action continued at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) on Friday night with a $3,000-to-win program for the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series.

Thirty-nine competitors were signed in for the event, and after qualifying eleventh overall Mark locked his spot into the 50 lap feature by winning his respective B-Main. Whitener advanced four positions from his sixth starting position to bring home a solid runner-up performance behind only race winner, Keith Nosbisch. Walker Arthur, Dennis Franklin and Matt Henderson rounded out the top five finishers.

The final day of racing at Bubba Raceway Park hosted the 10th Annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship, which was nixed by Mother Nature on November 22nd, 2014. Mark was locked into the seventh starting position for the $10,000-to-win finale via his preliminary performance in November. In the 100 lapper, Whitener battled at the front of the pack throughout the event before registering his second podium in as many nights, finishing second behind race winner, Walker Arthur. Mark posted the third fastest time overall in qualifying amongst the thirty-six entries on hand for the event, locking him into the third starting spot for the 40 lap finale. Following an early battle with Jacob Hawkins for the second spot, Whitener would take the position for good on lap thirteen and begin to reel in race leader, Michael Lake. One circuit later, Whitener used the bottom groove coming off the fourth turn to get underneath Lake and take the lead.

From there Whitener held on through adverse track conditions for a 1.415 second margin of victory over Hawkins. Max Blair finished third while Walker Arthur took home fourth and Ryan King rounded out the top five finishers.

On Thursday night the winner's check increased to $2,500 as thirty-six competitors returned for battle. With the top ten from qualifications locking into the main event, Whitener fell just short of the mark and would have to run a b-main. He went on to finish second in his b-main, earning him the fourteenth starting spot on the feature grid. Mark battled around mid-pack for much of the 50 lap finale before contact from another competitor sent him spinning in turn one. He would ultimately retire to a fourteenth place finish in the final rundown.

January 10th, 2015 - Big Frog Motorsports Open 2015 at Waycross
Big Frog Motorsports opened their 2015 campaign on Saturday night at Waycross Motor Speedway (Waycross, Georgia).

The National Late Model Series (NLMS) sanctioned the event, which drew a field of twenty-six entries to the clay oval. Whitener suffered mechanical issues on his #58 Big Frog Motorsports/Dave's Towing Super Late Model during qualifications, and was slated to start fifteenth in the $4,000-to-win feature as a result. In the main event, Mark had made his way into the top five by the halfway point in the 40 lap affair when disaster stuck. A melee on a restart left Whitener with mechanical issues on his entry, forcing him to retire from the balance of the program.
