October 19th, 2013 - Whitener Inherits $2k Payday at Bubba Raceway Park
1Mark Whitener didn't cross the finish line in the first position in Saturday night's $2,000-to-win event at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) in his #58 Big Frog Motorsports/Dave's Towing/B&B Produce Late Model, but by the time that post race technical inspection was completed he was awarded the win.

The weekend started on a sour note on Friday night, when a broken rear-end in practice forced the team to go to their underpowered, Crate Late Model for Saturday's program.

Heat race action on Saturday evening didn't see much of an improvement in Whitener's luck as a broken, right-rear brake caliper, while leading the heat race forced him pitside. As a result Mark started 12th on the grid for the feature, and had advanced to the 3rd position, when he made contact with Kyle Bronson, which resulted in Whitener getting sent to the tail. Over the remainder of the event Mark rebounded to a second place finish, but in post-race inspection the winner was found to have an illegal spoiler. As a result Mark Whitener and Big Frog Motorsports were awarded the victory, which marked his 11th triumph of the 2013 season.

October 12th, 2013 - Whitener Bags Pair of Seconds at Ocala
1 The 16th Annual Showdown in Savannah was held over the weekend at Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Pooler, Georgia), and Mark Whitener snared a pair of runner-up finishes in the special event.

On Friday night the Crate Late Model division eyed a $2,500 top prize, and Whitener started his outing by qualifying 4th fastest. Preliminary action saw him going on to race into the 3rd starting spot in the field for the finale, where he raced to a 2nd place finish behind race winner, Joshua Bishop.

Saturday's program found the Big Frog Motorsports team participating in a $5,000-to-win event at the 1/2 mile oval. Mark Whitener registered the 6th fastest time in qualifications, and followed it up by finishing 2nd in his heat race. In the 50 lap feature he started 4th on the grid before advancing to a 2nd place finish behind race winner, Scott Lagasse.

October 12th, 2013 - Runner-Up Finish for Whitener at Volusia
1 Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) played host to the United Dirt Late Model Championship Series (UDLMCS) on Saturday evening as the Scott Thompson Memorial was contested at the 1/2 mile, gumbo oval.

In time trials Mark Whitener powered his #58 Big Frog Motorsports/Dave's Towing/B&B Produce Late Model to the 2nd fastest time before winning his heat race. Via his performance in preliminary action Whitener locked into the 2nd starting spot for the feature, and he would grab the lead at the drop of the green flag in the $5,000-to-win finale.

Mark led the first eight laps of the feature before his tires began to seal during a caution flag period. On the ensuing restart he slipped back to the 3rd position. He would go on to initially finish 3rd, but in post race review Whitener was credited with a 2nd place finish due to a scoring issue with the 2nd place car, who spun earlier in the race but was allowed to retain his spot.

Mark continues to lead the standings for the series. Full results from the event as well as the latest standings are available at www.UnitedDirtLateModelSeries.com.
