September 28th, 2013 - Whitener Overcomes Adversity at North Florida
1 North Florida Speedway (Lake City, Florida) played host to a $3,000-to-win event with the United Dirt Late Model Championship Series (UDLMCS) on Saturday evening.

Mark Whitener saw his night begin by setting fast time around the oval in his group to earn the pole position for his heat race. He would go on to race to the win in his heat race, which sent him to the redraw for the feature. In the redraw Whitener was the recipient of the pole position for the feature.

As the feature went green Mark jumped to the lead and held the top spot for the first six laps before sliding back to the 2nd spot. On lap 13 bad luck bit Whitener, when he tangled with a lapped car, which sent him to the tail of the field. He would go on to rebound to a 4th place finish behind race winner, Jason Fitzgerald, Brandon Dewitt, and Kyle Vansickle.

Mark currently leads the standings for the series. Full results from the event as well as the latest standings are available at www.UnitedDirtLateModelSeries.com.

September 21st, 2013 - Lapped Car Eliminates Whitener's Chances at Volusia
1Mark Whitener looked to be on his way to another feature win on Saturday night as he led the pack at Volusia Speedway Park, but a lapped car would have other ideas as contact resulted in a disappointing end to the night for the team.

Sixteen Late Models entered the program, and Mark started his night by finishing 3rd in his heat race. With an invert of six drawn for the feature, Whitener started on the outside front row alongside Bo Allen.

As the race went green Whitener powered his #58 Big Frog Motorsports/Barry Wright Super Late Model to the lead, and held the top spot until just past the halfway point, when a lapped car crashed him. The ensuing damage brought Mark's night to a disappointing end. He was credited with a 12th place finish.

September 14th, 2013 - Whitener Battles the Handle at Volusia Speedway Park
1Mark Whitener and Big Frog Motorsports made the short trip to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) on Saturday evening for a $3,000-to-win, National Late Model Series event at the 1/2 mile, gumbo oval.

Twenty-seven entries entered the program, and the team battled the handle in heat race action as Mark was only able to manage a 3rd place finish, which left him starting 15th in the feature.

The team made wholesale changes to the car for the finale, but Whitener would still struggle with an ill-handling car as he was only able to manage an 11th place finish.

September 7th, 2013 - Whitener Bags $4,000 in Scott Thompson Memorial
1Mark Whitener piloted his #58 Big Frog Motorsports/Dave's Towing/B&B Produce Late Model to the $4,000 victory in the 7th Annual Scott Thompson Memorial on Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida), which marked his second straight triumph in the event. Thirty Super Late Models entered the program, and Mark started the evening by winning his heat race to move onto the redraw for the 50 lap feature, where he was the recipient of the 3rd starting spot.

Early in the main event great racing reigned supreme throughout the field as two and three battled were found abundantly. Whitener raced in the 3rd spot for the first half of the event, but as the race approached the halfway point he shot past leader, Doug Horton to take the top spot. Once out front he never looked back on his way to the victory, which came over Horton, Kyle Bronson, Keith Nosbisch, and Devin Dixon. The victory was his tenth of the 2013 season!

“I knew Scott and we raced together so this means a great deal to me for me to be able to win this race back to back,” Whitener stated in victory lane. “It takes a team effort to win this race and to make it here in victory lane. I have to thank Mark Rey for making the right call on the tires because if it was me I would have guessed wrong.”
