Bailes records 13th-place finish in March Madness at Cherokee
The Big Frog Motorsports team and Ross Bailes returned with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Saturday afternoon at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the ninth annual Tennessee Tipoff. In a stout field of 51 cars, Bailes posted a fifth place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the A-Main. Locking in the Top 2, Ross notched a runner-up finish behind Dale McDowell, which positioned him 22nd on the starting grid for the feature. The following night at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) for the Southern All Star Series-sanctioned Ginger Owens March Madness, Ross came in fifth in his heat before picking up a 10-lap consolation victory. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 17th, Bailes clawed forward four spots to register a 13th-place outing.
