Whitener and BFM begin 2022 at Volusia

Kicking off the 2022 season, Big Frog Motorsports and pilot Mark Whitener invaded Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) on Thursday afternoon to compete with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the Sunshine Nationals. With 47 Late Models entered, Whitener followed up the seventh-fastest lap in his group with a seventh-place finish in his heat. Transferring into the B-Main, Mark got squeezed into the outside wall while battling for a transfer spot that resulted in him landing on his roof. He was able to escape unharmed. After scratching from qualifying and his heat race on Friday, Mark raced from 13th-to-fifth in his B-Main, missing a transfer spot by two positions.

Saturday’s finale was axed by Mother Nature.
