Improving two spots in the 20-lapper, Ashton recorded a runner-up finish, which came behind Daulton Wilson with Gordy Gundaker rounding out the podium.
With a 107 cars entered on Thursday as the World 100 officially kicked off with a pair of $12,000-to-win preliminary features, Winger was battling for the lead in his heat race but tagged the wall, ending his night.
After assessing the damage, the team decided to load up and spectate for the remainder of the weekend.
